About Population Group Classification
RBI classifies locations into four population groups based on population size:
- Metropolitan: Population of 10 lakhs and above
- Urban: Population of 1 lakh and above but less than 10 lakhs
- Semi-Urban: Population of 10,000 and above but less than 1 lakh
- Rural: Population below 10,000
