Project Overview

Morepen Laboratories initiated its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) journey to strengthen sustainability practices and ensure regulatory compliance. The primary objective was to automate and streamline the preparation of its annual Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) in full alignment with SEBI's guidelines for FY 2023-24.

This initiative focused on enhancing transparency, improving data accuracy, and significantly reducing the time required by Morepen’s sustainability and compliance teams. To achieve these goals, Oren implemented the Oren Sustainability Hub across 7 locations, including 4 plants and 3 offices, provided comprehensive employee training on its platform, and established robust data validation processes to ensure high-quality ESG reporting.

Key Challenges

• Inconsistent Data Collection: Without standardised data templates across multiple locations, aggregating and analysing ESG & GHG data proved challenging, leading to inconsistencies and gaps in reporting.
• Decentralised Data Management: The lack of a centralised data management system resulted in inefficiencies, delays, and fragmented data collection, making it difficult to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Data Validation Complexities: Disparities in measurement standards and documentation formats introduced challenges in data validation, impacting the credibility and reliability of sustainability reports.

Oren partnered with Morepen Laboratories to implement a structured and technology-driven approach to overcoming ESG data challenges:

• Organisational Boundaries and Asset Mapping: Oren worked closely with Morepen to define the scope of ESG & GHG data collection by mapping facilities and departments. This process involved creating a replica of the organisation on the platform to streamline reporting and ensure comprehensive coverage.
• Centralised ESG & GHG Data Management: Through its SaaS-based Oren Sustainability Hub, Oren established a centralised data management system, enabling seamless collection, processing, and analysis of ESG & GHG data across multiple locations, including 4 plants and offices in India and the US.
• Comprehensive Employee Training: To enhance data accuracy and consistency, Oren conducted department-wise training sessions, equipping Morepen’s employees with the skills needed to effectively utilise the Oren Sustainability Hub.
• Real-time ESG Dashboard: With the Oren Sustainability Hub, Morepen gained real-time visibility into key ESG metrics, including water consumption, waste generation, and GHG emissions—allowing for proactive decision-making and continuous progress tracking.

• Successful Completion of BRSR: Oren developed and published Morepen’s FY 2023-24 BRSR report, ensuring full regulatory compliance while strengthening corporate transparency and disclosure.
