Oren joins Coalition for Sustainable AI to scale enterprise decarbonisation across the GCC

Oren, the UAE-based corporate sustainability firm, has become the first company in the country to be selected to join the Coalition for Sustainable AI, a global initiative supported by the Government of France, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Launched at the AI Action Summit in Paris last year, the Coalition brings together corporations, not-for-profits, research institutions, start-ups, investors and public bodies from around the world to align AI development with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Why AI's environmental impact matters for GCC enterprises
With AI emerging as one of the defining technologies of this decade and becoming increasingly integral to enterprise operations in the GCC, addressing its environmental impact is equally important. As a member of the Coalition, Oren aims to deepen the AI capabilities of its platform to help enterprises measure, report and reduce their carbon footprints.
The company also commits to contributing real-world case studies from its deployments across the GCC to the Coalition's collaborative work on frameworks, standards and methodologies for sustainable AI.
While much of the global debate around AI and the environment has focused on the technology's energy, water and computing demands, the UAE is fostering innovative companies like Oren that are working to build AI solutions that not only address these impacts but also help reduce broader environmental impacts.
Aligning the UAE's twin ambitions: AI leadership and Net Zero
This ambition is underpinned by the UAE's pursuit of two flagship national goals: global leadership in AI by 2031 and Net Zero by 2050. Achieving them will require enterprises across energy, real estate, manufacturing, logistics and finance to understand their carbon footprint, identify reduction opportunities and act on them at scale.
Arooshi Dahiya, Chief Executive Officer of Oren, said:
The most important climate contribution AI can make is helping enterprises see their environmental footprint clearly — and then cut it. That is what we build, every day, for every client. Joining the Coalition for Sustainable AI is a commitment to scaling that work as part of a global community — building AI responsibly, grounding it in credible data, and helping the Gulf's enterprises turn the region's two great ambitions, AI leadership and Net Zero, into one coherent agenda.
Ms. Dahiya added:
The UAE has understood earlier than most that AI and the energy transition are one story, not two. What the region's enterprises need now is intelligence they can act on — emissions data that is accurate today, not twelve months ago. That is the contribution we bring to this Coalition, and to the Gulf's Net Zero journey.
